Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed the Telecommunications Law, which regulates legal relations in the telecommunications sector.
According to the document, telecommunications networks in Uzbekistan can be either state-owned or privately owned. All owners of such networks have equal rights and enjoy the same legal protection as stipulated by law.
Telecommunications networks are classified by their purpose into public networks, departmental networks, and dedicated networks. Communication lines are an integral part of these networks, serving functions corresponding to their designation.
The Ministry of Digital Technologies is the authorized government body in the field of telecommunications. The state’s oversight in this area is carried out by the Inspection for Control over Informatization and Telecommunications.
Operators and providers of public networks are required to offer universal communication services to all users without any restrictions, provided they comply with the conditions of their licenses.
This law will come into force upon its official publication.
