New science and education centers in New Tashkent: An investment in youth

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 April, construction began on the first facilities in New Tashkent. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the significance of starting this grand project with scientific and educational institutions, emphasizing their role as the foundation and model for creating an enlightened society.

Today, President Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of these projects, including the new building for the National Library of Uzbekistan. The four-story complex, designed in a national architectural style, will cover 30,000 square meters and accommodate up to 1,420 readers simultaneously. Advanced storage systems will ensure the cataloging, security, and sterilization of books. The multifunctional facility will also include a 300-seat café, a gallery, sports areas, and other amenities.

The President stressed the importance of spirituality and education for national development, stating that a great nation excels both spiritually and economically. "The construction of our new city begins with centers of enlightenment, which should become hubs of culture, science, and spirituality," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

He underscored the need to train highly qualified specialists to manage the library, with a focus on modern information technologies and exceptional service. Enhanced training for librarians will be offered at the National University of Uzbekistan and other institutions. Additionally, branches of the library will be established in 14 cities across the country to foster a culture of reading.

Modern campuses are also being built for Tashkent State Pedagogical University (TSPU) and New Uzbekistan University. Currently, TSPU faculties are spread across outdated facilities. The new campus will span 40 hectares, featuring academic buildings for 20,000 students, a dormitory for 5,000 residents, a kindergarten, a school, an academic lyceum, sports and cultural centers, an amphitheater, and more. This will create an innovative pedagogical cluster based on the principle of “kindergarten-school-university,” drawing from the practices of leading international universities.

The project aims to provide modern conditions for faculty and students, transitioning to single-shift learning and introducing dual education to enhance academic quality.

New Uzbekistan University represents a new era in higher education, offering programs based on German standards and featuring faculty from world-renowned institutions. Currently, the university enrolls over 1,000 students, with applications increasing each year.

Construction of the university complex will proceed in three phases. The first phase includes academic buildings and the rector’s office. Future plans involve five faculties, a rectorate, a library, a museum, a sports complex, and residential facilities for staff and students.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized the significance of these educational institutions as investments in the country’s future, ensuring that the quality of education aligns with the ambitious goals of New Uzbekistan.
