New Rules for Drivers: Stricter control over dedicated lanes to improve public transport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 10 October 2024, new traffic regulations aimed at enhancing the efficiency of public transport and road safety will come into effect in Uzbekistan. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved Resolution No. 658, which tightens control over the use of dedicated bus lanes.

What Has Changed?

Ban for Private Vehicles: Movement in dedicated lanes is strictly prohibited for all private vehicles, except for those used by emergency services.

Crossing Restrictions: Crossing dedicated lanes is now permitted only for entering or exiting adjacent properties. It is important that such crossings occur only in sections with broken lane markings, and the distance between these sections must not exceed 50 meters.

Goal of the Changes

These measures aim to optimize the operation of public transport and reduce traffic congestion. The Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to conduct informational campaigns for drivers and enhance monitoring of compliance with the new rules.

The changes are expected to positively impact the transportation situation in the country and make journeys on public transport more comfortable for passengers.
