New project on pasture management launched in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan and German Society of International Cooperation (GIZ) launched a new project “Sustainable management of pasture with participation of local community”.

Bogdon farms union, located in Farish district of Jizzakh region, has been selected as pilot region. Bogdon has 75,000 hectares, of which 52,000 hectares are pastures.

Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan, project “Initiative of Central Asian countries on management of land resources” and regional programme on sustainable development of natural resource in Central Asia, financed by Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.

The project will be implemented on three components – demonstration of approaches and methods of sustainable management of pastures with participation of local community, introduction of effective agriculture technologies and methods of water saving and management of crops to ensure alternative income for local population, and improve normative-regulative and institutional frameworks for sustainable pasture management.
