Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward 5 key initiatives, which include: increasing the interest of young people in music, art, literature, theater and other arts; coverage of youth in sports and the creation of the necessary conditions for this; organization of effective use of computer technologies and the Internet by the population, in particular by young people; increasing the spirituality of youth; mass popularization of reading; providing employment for women. One of these initiatives is aimed at attracting young people to sports and creating all the necessary opportunities for the younger generation to be able to engage in physical education.
In pursuance of this initiative, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle, another project is being implemented among the country’s population. Today, between the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, the Agency for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Cycling Federation of Uzbekistan, in order to popularize cycling, a Memorandum was signed on holding the "Youth tour" competition annually in September-October.
Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Dilmurod Nabiev and head of the Agency for Youth Affairs Alisher Sadullayev took part in the signing ceremony. The event was opened by Tanzila Narbaeva’s speech on long-term plans.
“Indeed, in recent years, cycling has developed very much in the country. In truth, when I took over as chairman of the Senate, another person might have headed the federation. However, the federation means a lot to me and I could not leave it. Cycling is a sport that promotes cleanliness and sports tourism, using environmentally friendly transport. Also, cycling is very beneficial for human health. In our main activity, when we talk about road construction at meetings with khokims, we are discussing, of course, the possibility of creating special lanes for cyclists. Our main goal, as the Dear President noted, is not only the education of professional athletes, but also the education of a healthy generation through the promotion of mass sports,” Tanzila Narbaeva said.
In turn, Dilmurod Nabiev supported these initiatives and expressed his views on the development of cycling in the country.
“We believe that today’s event will play an important role in bringing the development of cycling to a new level in our country and increasing its popularity. In turn, the Ministry will further strengthen the material and technical base of the Cycling Federation, providing our athletes with the necessary assistance in purchasing new and modern bicycles and additional equipment,” said Dilmurod Nabiyev.
Other representatives also spoke during the event: the head of the Agency for Youth Affairs Alisher Sadullaev, one of the leaders of our national team Murodjon Khalmuradov, Honored Coach of the Republic of Uzbekistan Lyudmila Markelova - all of them noted the importance of today’s event, and the attention paid to sports in our country.
After the speeches, a trilateral Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation was signed, and at the end of the event the parties expressed their gratitude to each other.
