New horizons in cultural cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  A meeting between Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of Uzbekistan’s Art and Cultural Development Foundation, and French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati reaffirmed the strong cultural ties between Uzbekistan and France. Both sides emphasized their commitment to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of both nations.

A recent example of this collaboration was the successful exhibitions “Road to Samarkand” at the Arab World Institute and another exhibit at the Louvre, where unique artifacts showcasing Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage attracted significant interest from the French public.

During the meeting, they discussed continued cooperation in monument and artifact restoration, which is essential to cultural preservation efforts. Plans to open a branch of France’s National Institute of Heritage (INP) in Tashkent were also addressed, marking a substantial step forward in deepening partnership and exchanging restoration expertise.

The discussion included the upcoming 43rd UNESCO General Assembly in Samarkand, which will see participation from the French delegation, reflecting the commitment to furthering cooperation on the global stage.
