New group to control adherence of law enforcement bodies to human rights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On approval of regulation on interdepartmental working group on studying current state of adherence to human rights and freedoms by the law enforcement bodies and other state bodies” on 23 July 2012.

The document was adopted in order to ensure effective coordination of activity of law enforcement bodies on protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as improve their interaction of civil society institutes.

The main task of the working group is to study and summarize issues related to human rights and freedoms, conduct monitoring of complaints of citizens on violation of their rights and freedoms, including complaints over use of torture.

Task of the working group is to submit proposals on adopting measures on eliminating revealed facts of violation of legislation in sphere of human rights and proposals on improving legislation in the area.

The document said that Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan will head the interdepartmental working group.
