Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 1 January 2025, the first freight train of the year departed from the Xi’an International Port in Shaanxi Province, China, heading toward Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

This route is now part of the "China-Europe" international rail transport network and has established a new high-speed corridor between Xi’an and Tashkent.

The train, consisting of 50 containers, is carrying a variety of goods, including household appliances, textiles, and chemical products.

It will cross the border at the Khorgos checkpoint in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and continue its journey through Kazakhstan before reaching Uzbekistan.

Due to the collaboration between Xi’an International Port Chanba, China Railway Corporation, and other relevant agencies, the new route has reduced the delivery time from 8-10 days to 5-6 days.

In 2024, freight volume from Xi’an to Central Asia increased by 49.8% compared to the previous year, reaching 69,655 standard containers.

The new route is expected to significantly improve logistics and accelerate the delivery of goods between China and Uzbekistan, fostering further development of economic ties between the two countries.
