New cultural center opens in Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A solemn opening ceremony of National Cultural Center was held in Samarkand city on 29 August 2012. Fund Forum initiated construction of the center and it was supported by Mehr Nuri Foundation, Women’s Council and Social Initiatives Support Fund.

The ceremony was attended by the project author Gulnara Karimova and attracted elder people, representatives of mahallas and local businesses, who were sponsors, NGOs, and partners of the funds in Samarkand region.

New cultural center in Samarkand will be venue for interesting and useful leisure while helping strengthen dialog among people of various generations, helping the youth learn skills and contributing to informal artistic education.

The center has children room, social initiatives support room, room for uniting women, room for youth initiatives, health cabinet, etc.

Within the ceremony chairperson of Trustee Council of Fund Forum Gulnara Karimova participated at youth forum with the members of Center for Youth Initiatives “Kelajak Ovozi”. In the meeting, Gulnara Karimova communicated with youth, discussed their ideas and initiatives. She also gave her recommendations on various issues.

At the end of the meeting, Gulnara Karimova handed over certificates and gifts to 45 winners of the regional stage of youth competition “Kelajak Ovozi”. The winners also received chance to participate in national stage of the competition.

National Cultural Center also hosted a dinner, which was attended by sponsors, small and medium businesses, public organizations of the region. Gulnara Karimova handed over certificates to 17 sponsors, who helped to build the center and organize the project “1000 weddings and 1000 sunnat-tuys” in Samarkand region.

Five loans were also issued to implementation of socially important business projects at the support Forum of Social Responsible Citizens of Uzbekistan.

The first cultural center was opened in Namangan city in June 2012 and the second was launched in Qarshi on 29 August 2012. The new cultural centers are set to be constructed in each region of the Republic while mini centers are to be built in remote areas. Each center in the regions will be constructed under a single architectural framework.
