Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, while on a visit to Hanoi, held meetings with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, Chairman of GELEX Group Nguyen Hoa Cuong, Executive Member of Vietnam Electronics Business Association Do Thi Thuy Huong, as well as Director of Mareven Food Holdings Trong Duong Nguyen.

During the conversation with Phung Duc Tien, issues of increasing exports of fresh and dried fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan to the Vietnamese market were discussed, bearing in mind the accelerated receipt of phytosanitary permits for the supply of cherries, apples, dates, almonds, walnuts, onions and garlic. The parties agreed to continue the implementation of a program for the development of industrial rice farming in Uzbekistan with the involvement of Vietnamese specialists and the introduction of new varieties, as well as to expand cooperation between the Rice Research Institutes of Uzbekistan and Vietnam in the field of improving the seed breeding system and adapting Vietnamese precocious varieties to the conditions of Uzbekistan.

In addition, a joint department on rice cultivation will be opened in the Karakalpak Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnology together with the Vietnam National University of Agriculture, and an Uzbek-Vietnamese rice breeding center will be established in the Khorezm region to develop new rice varieties resistant to drought, salinization and other soil and climatic conditions of Uzbekistan.

Along with this, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam will share the experience of studying and implementing its expertise in the development of agrochemical maps for monitoring soil conditions and will assist in attracting Vietnamese companies and modern technologies to Uzbekistan for the implementation of joint projects in the agro-industrial sector.

For qualitative implementation of all agreements and initiatives in the field of agriculture, the parties will prepare a joint cooperation program between the Ministries of Agriculture of the two countries, specifying specific mechanisms, responsible performers and implementation timeframe.

At the meeting with Chairman of GELEX Group Nguyen Hoa Cuong, the issues of implementing joint projects in the field of alternative energy sources as well as the electrical industry and the production of modern building materials were considered. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on starting the development of relevant project documentation.

In a similar constructive way, negotiations were held with the Executive Member of Vietnam Electronics Business Association Do Thi Thuy Huong. An agreement was reached on signing a cooperation program with the Uzeltexsanoat Association for the implementation of joint projects involving Vietnamese companies. Among the projects is the production of semiconductor products, electronic printed circuit boards, as well as the production of LED chips in various regions of Uzbekistan.

On the same day, a meeting was held with Director of Mareven Food Holdings Trong Duong Nguyen, during which the issues of implementing a project for the production of food and soft drinks in the Angren FEZ were discussed.

Following the meetings, mutual readiness was expressed to take practical measures and develop a format for further interaction.
