Net sales of Ucell hits US$260.246 million in 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Net sales of Ucell (FE COSCOM Ltd.), the second largest mobile communication operator of Uzbekistan in terms of subscribers’ base, made up 1.738 billion Sweden kronor (about US$260.246 million) in 2011, which is up 8% year-on-year, the Swedish-Finnish telecom operator, TeliaSonera, financial statements said.

At the same time, the company’s net revenue in the fourth quarter of 2011 rose by 2% to 427 million Sweden kronor (about $70.377 million).

TeliaSonera said that competition remained fierce and Ucell is positioning itself as the leader within mobile data. Value added services today represent 30 percent of Ucell’s total revenues.

Subscribers’ base of Ucell made up 7.688 million at the end of 2011 against 6.832 million users in the same period of 2010. Number of pre-paid card users rose from 6.739 million in 2010 to 7.545 million in 2011.

According to the company, MOU (average monthly minutes of usage per subscriber) fell from 287 minutes per month in 2010 to 256 minutes per month in 2011.

FE COSCOM Ltd. was founded in 1996 and operates under Ucell TM since June 2008, offering mobile services in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In July 2007 Ucell became part of the TeliaSonera Group and almost immediately took on the role of the pioneer and trendsetter in the telecommunications market of Uzbekistan. Ucell was the first to launch 3G services in the country and now holds the leading position in third generation network coverage. Also Ucell is one of the first to launch a pilot 4G network in Uzbekistan. In March 2011 Ucell subscribers’ base has exceeded 8 million (according to the local rules on the registration of mobile subscribers in the Republic of Uzbekistan)
