Net operating revenue of VimpelCom in Uzbekistan grows by 10.7% in 3Q
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Net operating revenue of open Joint Stock Company Vimpel-Communications (VimpelCom) in Uzbekistan grew by 10.7% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2009 and made up 1.568 billion Russian rubles.

According to the company, revenue from mobile communication made up 1.467 billion rubles in the reporting period, or grew by 9.1% year-on-year. Revenue from fixed communication rose by 45.1% to 103 million rubles.

At the same time, net operating revenue in the US dollar fell from US$58 million in the third quarter of 2008 to US$50 million in the same period of 2009.

OIBDA made up 738 million rubles in the reporting period, or decreased by 7.5% year-on-year. OIBDA of mobile communication fell by 10.1% to 696 million rubles and OIBDA of fixed communication increased by 75% to 42 million rubles. OIBDA margin slipped from 56.4% in the third quarter of 2008 to 47.1% in the same period of 2009.

Subscribers’ base of the mobile communication rose by 16% year-on-year to 3.652 million, the company said in a statement.

MOU (Monthly Average Minutes of Use per User) made up 409.3 minutes or rose by 37.1%. ARPU (Monthly Average Revenue per User) decreased by 30.8% year-on-year to US$4.5.

Number of subscribers to broadband Internet comprised 8,300 at the end of third quarter of 2009.

Capital expenditures of VimpelCom in Uzbekistan fell 69.6% to 207 million rubles in the reporting period.

VimpelCom owns Unitel LLC and Buzton JV LLC in Uzbekistan. Unitel LLC renders mobile communication services under Beeline brand in Uzbekistan, while Buzton JV LLC offers fixed communication and Internet services.
