Uzbekistan 18/11/2008 Negotiations to boost Uzbek-Malaysian ties - Uzbek leader

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Negotiations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia will open new page in relations and achieved agreements and signed documents will serve for interests of people of two states, Uzbek President Islam Karimov said at the press conference after the talks with Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi on 17 November.

Uzbek leader said the official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister to Uzbekistan, undoubtedly, will serve for development of bilateral relations and give new impulse for cooperation. Common traditions and values unite the countries, he added.

Islam Karimov said that during the talks, the sides exchange opinion on bilateral relations, regional and international issues.

Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi, in his turn, said the current visit to Uzbekistan is aimed at developing bilateral relations and stimulate direct business contacts. He said the bilateral trade turnover is growing dynamically, but there are unused opportunities.

Malaysian Prime Minister said: “We are for speeding-up cooperation in such sectors as exploration and development of mineral resources, energy sources and development of tourism.”
