A large batch of drugs was seized as a result of a rapid search operation conducted against a criminal group of drug traffickers. It was established that the drugs were kept in the house of a member of the group, a resident of Sariosiyo district, Naim Jumayev, who was born in 1982.
He was a former officer of the State Tax Committee’s Surkhandarya regional directorate. Officers of the National Security Service found the drugs, which were hidden at his backyard. The opium in dozens of plastic bags weighed 154 kg in total.
Naim Jumayev’s accomplice and a resident of the same village, Fayzulla Temirov, was also detained soon. In all, 50 g of heroin and over 600 g of opium was found on him.
A criminal case against the detained men has been launched, an investigation is under way.
