NBU’s consolidated balance reaches 9.315 trln. soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Consolidated balance of the National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity in Uzbekistan (NBU) made up 9.314 trillion soums at the end of 2010 in national currency equivalent.

The volume of loan portfolio (in national currency equivalent) made up 3.672 trillion soums in the reporting period, the press service of the bank said.

The bank underlined that targeted work of the bank helped to increase number of clients up to 2.374 million.

NBU issued loans in hard currency for US$900.4 million and in national currency for 1.717 trillion soums in 2010 in order to realize anti-crisis programme, further increasing capitalization and financial sustainability of enterprises of real sector of economy, modernization and re-equipment of production capacities.

In the reporting period, National Bank served 114 investment projects for total sum of US$3.71 billion (in equivalent).

In order to modernize and rehabilitate production capacities at subsidiary enterprises, created on the base of insolvent companies, the bank directed investments for 64.1 billion soums as of 1 January 2011.

As of 1 January 2011, subsidiary enterprises of the bank produced goods for 136.8 billion soums and created 5,825 jobs.

The bank said NBU selected 253 projects with the cost of US$591.3 million within financing of projects due to resources of foreign credit lines.

The volume of issued loans to small businesses in national currency due to own resources made u 355 billion soums in 2010.

Within off-budget funds, the bank allocated loans to small businesses for over 2 billion soums, the bank said in its statement.

In the reporting period, departments and branches of the National Bank issued over 4,200 microloans for 44.2 billion soums.

In the reporting period, the National Bank of Uzbekistan increased the volume of population deposits up to 348.9 billion soums.

NBU stated that it emitted about 497,800 banking payment cards and their total number made up over 2 million. It added that number of banking payment cards issued within the salary projects comprised 728,800, which makes up 32% of total volume.

In 2010, the transaction volume, carried out through POS-terminals, accepting soum plastic cards, made up 881.3 billion soums.

The bank underlined that total number of POS-terminals, installed at trade-service enterprises and banks, reached 10,438.
