The Uzbek Foreign Ministry said that James Appathurai held meetings at Legislative Chamber and Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Foreign Affairs Ministry and Defence Ministry.

During the meetings, the sides exchanged opinion on current state and perspectives of developing relations between Uzbekistan and NATO, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

It was said that the visit of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov to Brussels on 24 January 2011 and meeting with the NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen gave new impulse for interaction of Uzbekistan with the alliance.

The sides also expressed interest in further developing of cooperation within Individual Partnership Programme and Process of planning and analyzing of adopted decisions.

James Appathurai also visited the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and gave a lecture to the students.
