The event was organized in order to implement a programme on additional measures on implementation of the Concept on further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country.

It was initiated by National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan, Independent Institute on monitoring formation of civil society, Public Fund on support of NGOs and other institutes of civil society under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan, Council of Trade Unions’ Federation of Uzbekistan and Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan.

MPs and Senators of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, national experts and specialists, representatives of NGOs, state bodies, ministries and others participated at the National Forum.

The event was aimed at consolidating NGOs, strengthening their role and importance in process of democratization and modernization of Uzbekistan, implementing important state programmes, in those areas where the government needs support of NGOs.

The forum included seminar “Participation of NGOs in social-economic development of the country”, roundtable to discuss laws “On social partnership”, “On public control”, “On ecologic control in Uzbekistan”, “On openness of activities of state bodies and management”, exhibition of achievements of NGOs, etc.

During the forum, eight winners of last grant competition, announced by Public Fund on support of NGOs and other civil society institutions of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, were awarded with certificates, while 30 active participants of the forum were awarded with diplomas.
