Uzbek President Islam Karimov inked a resolution “On measures for further increasing capitalization and improving investment activity of state commercial Narodniy Bank” on 16 October 2008.
The resolution said that the bank will increase its authorized capital to 100 billion soums in 2008 in line with the decision of shareholders. The document said further that Narodniy Bank will increase charter capital to 200 billion soums in 2009-2012.
Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan will buy shares for 51 billion soums and the Central Bank will acquire stocks for 49 billion soums from the new emission.
Narodniy Bank was re-organized from Uzsberbank on 4 October 1995.According to Narodniy Bank’s official website, its authorized capital equals to 10 billion soums.
