Nafisa Muminova becomes grand master
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s Nafisa Muminova, 22, has been the first grand master among Uzbek women, local state agency UzA reported.

The report said that FIDE awarded her grand master title in the beginning of 2013.

Nafisa started to play chess at the age of four and since she has been in love with this sport. At 9 she began training at the Kokand chess club under the guidance of coach Anvarjon Aliev and won the Uzbekistan championship in 2002.

In 2007 after winning series of competitions nationwide, she finished the regional tournament at the top place and qualified for the world championship. She was the only Central Asian women and the first Uzbek women to participate at that prestigious women’s world championship.

In 2010 Nafisa was among the top 4 at the Women’s U-20 world championship. At the team competitions of the Summer Asian Games in Guanjou together with her teammates Olga Sobirova, Yulduz Hamrakulova, Nodira Nodirjonova whe won silver medals.
