Mufti Nuriddin Khaliknazarov appointed as member of the Council of Muslim Elders

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 January, Mufti Nuriddin Khaliknazarov, chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, was appointed a member of the Council of Muslim Elders.

The decision was made by the Chairman of the Council, Imam-Khatib of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed At-Tayib.

The Secretary General of the Council, Muhammad Abdulsalam, expressed gratitude to the government of Uzbekistan and Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliknazarov for their contribution to the development of the religious and educational sphere in the country and region.

Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliknazarov noted that this appointment is a source of pride for Uzbekistan and all of Central Asia. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Imam of Al-Azhar, Chairman of the Council, members and Secretary General for this appointment. Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliknazarov emphasized the Council’s readiness to make efforts to achieve the goals of serving the interests of the Muslim world, strengthening peace, developing cooperation and preserving the Islamic heritage in Uzbekistan.

The Council of Muslim Elders is an independent international organization whose purpose is to promote and strengthen the universal values of peace, mutual dialogue, tolerance and solidarity in Muslim and non-Muslim communities.
