MTS Uzbekistan receives new frequencies to expand LTE network
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MTS Uzbekistan, largest mobile operator of Uzbekistan and 100% subsidiary of Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems, received permission to use radio frequencies at the diapason of 700 megahertz to expand existing 4G network.

Nuriddin Shadmanov, deputy director-general on commerce of MTS Uzbekistan, said: “Development of LTE network in Uzbekistan will allow MTS to become one of leaders in development of 4G. Use of innovative telecommunication technologies, available in the world, will give our clients indisputable advantages.”

He said that MTS Uzbekistan is planning to develop both 3G and 4G networks across Uzbekistan. He added that increasing demand to mobile internet puts rigid requirements to MTS networks, quality and speed of data transfer and this makes 4G network development priority for leading mobile operator in Uzbekistan.

As earlier reported, MTS Uzbekistan launched the first 4G (LTE) network in Uzbekistan, Central Asia and the CIS. Uzbekistan became one of the first countries, which built 4G network. LTE network allows MTS subscribers to use Internet at the speed of 100 Mbps.

Currently, 4G network of MTS Uzbekistan is available in central part of Tashkent, but the company said it is plans to expand it to all territory of Uzbekistan. At the same time, the company will continue to develop 3G network. MTS Uzbekistan launched 3G network to commercial exploitation in December 2008. The network was built based on HSDPA technology, which allows to transfer data at 3.6 Mbps, make video calls. By the end of 2011, the company plans to launch 3G network in all regional and district centers, as well as large cities of Uzbekistan.

LTE technology (Long-Term Evolution) is logic continuation of 3G network development. The technology can ensure significant (theoretically, hundred times) increase data transfer in existing mobile networks.
