MPs support initiatives of Uzbek president
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Mjalis of Uzbekistan supported call of the President of Uzbekistan on holding international investigation of tragic events, which took place in southern Kyrgyzstan on 11-14 June 2010.

The press service of the Legislative Chamber, Tashkent Pedagogic Medical Institute hosted a roundtable titled “Important initiatives of Uzbekistan directed at strengthening security and development”, which was organized by the Committee on defense and security of the Legislative Chamber.

Representatives of the Legislative Chamber, teachers and students of the Tashkent Pedagogic Medical Institute and journalists participated at the event.

The press service added that public in Uzbekistan and international community are commenting and discussing speech of the Uzbek President at the UN General Assembly’s summit on the Millennium Development Goals. In his speech, Islam Karimov spoke about regional security in Central Asia, on which depends achievement of MDGs.

During the seminar on Tashkent, the participant underlined role of Uzbekistan in achievement of peace in Afghanistan. In particular, Uzbekistan participates in road and railway construction, as well as bridges. Uzbekistan supplies electricity to Kabul.

Participants expressed hope that initiatives of the Uzbek leader will serve as foundation of the UN decisions on strengthening peace and stability in Central Asian region and solving ecologic problems.

MPs also supported initiative of Uzbek President on holding international investigation of tragic events, which took placed in southern Kyrgyzstan on 11-14 June 2010. It was said Uzbekistan made great efforts to avoid spreading of violence, keep peace in border territory, avoiding extremism, which could bring to unpredictable consequences.
