Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MPs of UzLiDeP in the Legislative Chamber Nodir Abduvaliev and Sardor Giyosov called on government bodies to save on the purchase of cars.

They noted that as a result of 2023, the country’s consolidated budget deficit amounted to 59 trillion soums.

However, in the first quarter of this year, funds were spent by individual ministries and government organizations on the purchase of expensive vehicles, the MPs emphasized.

As an example, they mentioned the purchase of the BYD Song Plus car by the Public Works Fund under the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction for 444 million soums, the purchase of the BYD Han premium car by the Energy Market Development and Regulation Agency under the government for 504 million soums, as well as the purchase of a Toyota SUV Land Cruiser 300 by the Supreme Court for 1.5 billion soums and other cases.

The deputies noted that in foreign countries, heads of ministries prefer to come to work by public transport or by bicycle, rather than by expensive company cars. This is to demonstrate that they are public servants in the service of and close to the people.

The public is also called upon to pay attention to solving socio-economic problems in the regions, in particular in mahallas, when spending funds by ministries and departments.

MPs call on ministries, departments and organizations financed from the budget to adhere to savings and not spend budget funds on the purchase of vehicles if they already have them at their disposal.
