The law was developed in order to improve norms of Criminal and Procedural Criminal Codes related with institute of releasing from responsibility or punishments due to active repentance.

Introduction of active repentance to legislation of Uzbekistan is directed at stimulating cooperation of persons with law enforcement bodies in order to timely reveal dangerous crimes and preventing its consequences.

MPs also adopted a draft law “On introduction of amendments to article 177 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan”.

The document introduces amendments to article 177 of Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, envisaging release of people from responsibility if they voluntary inform about planned or committed crime, as well as active participation in its investigation. The amendments are directed at stimulating citizens to cooperation with law enforcement bodies to reveal crimes and preventing its consequences.

After discussions of the laws, Legislative Chamber adopted the laws, which were directed to Senate of Oliy Majlis for further approval.
