MPs discuss development of tourism at “Government Hour”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held a “Government Hour” to discuss development of tourism in Uzbekistan.

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan was invited to inform the deputies on the implementation of the programe on priority measures for development of tourism for 2018-2019 in places.

It was noted at the meeting, the program envisages 53 measures, 22 of them were executed, the rest 23 - relevant ministries, departments, state authorities in the field are working, 8 measures are to be held on a permanent basis. Also within the framework of the program 10 normative legal acts were adopted.

It was stated that single entry tourist visas for 30 days have been introduced for individual foreign tourists. The cost of registration for individual foreign tourists of entry tourist visas is reduced by one third. The government also reduced lower limit of the group tourists from 10 to 5 people.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, a number of measures are being taken in the development of international cooperation, ensuring unimpeded implementation of visits to our country. In particular, joint measures are being taken with neighboring states to develop tourist destinations, including tourist routes along the Great Silk Road.

Uzbekistan introduced five-day visa free visit to citizens of 101 countries, who are travelling as transit tourists.

In addition, a number of measures have been implemented to develop agro-tourism, tourism in the context of regions. In particular, now in some territories of the republic special tourist zones are being created. In particular, Uzbekistan created a free tourist zone “Charvak”, while small tourist zones are created in Baysun, Sariosiyo and Sherabad.

Uzbek companies are attending various exhibitions, while Uzbek Ambassadors hold meetings with international organizations and global media outlets.

The State Tourism Development Committee provided assistance to more than 40 domestic tourism organizations in establishing links and reaching cooperation agreements with tour operators from such countries as Spain, Poland, Latvia, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Turkey, Indonesia.

During the questions and answers, it was said about the need to study and introduce the practice of advanced foreign experience in order to further develop the tourism sector in our country, to increase attention to the issues of opening new tourist destinations, taking advantage of unused opportunities.

At the end of the meeting it was decided to continue the parliamentary control over the work in this area.
