Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the second reading, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis considered the draft law “On introducing amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with improving legislation in the field of cybersecurity.”

The bill envisages amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Responsibility, laws on the Central Bank, on banks and banking activities, as well as other regulations.

In particular, the Law on the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan adds rules relating to ensuring cybersecurity in the activities of credit institutions, payment organizations, payment system operators, currency exchanges and credit bureaus.

Also, according to Article 54 of the Law on Banks and Banking Activities, violations that entail serious consequences include violation of legislative requirements in the field of information and cyber security in banking information systems.

The adoption of this bill helps to regulate relations in the field of cybersecurity, ensure security in banking systems and e-government systems, as well as prevent crimes committed using information and communication technologies.

The draft law was considered by deputies on individual articles and adopted in the third reading.
