Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a meeting of the Legislative Chamber, a bill aimed at regulating relations in the field of limiting greenhouse gas emissions in various sectors of the economy was conceptually considered in the first reading.

The bill defines the basic principles of limiting greenhouse gas emissions, legal relations of ownership of reduced greenhouse gases, full state control over their volume, as well as the powers of government bodies in this area.

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers will be responsible for implementing a unified state policy to limit greenhouse gas emissions. The Ministry of Economy and Finance will coordinate the development of state and regional programs, regulate the trade of greenhouse gases, as well as monitor, report and audit them.

The Ministry of Environment has been tasked with preparing a national report on greenhouse gas inventories within the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The bill also defines the rights and obligations of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs in the field of limiting greenhouse gas emissions.

The adoption of the bill will help regulate the trade of carbon units obtained by reducing and limiting greenhouse gas emissions, as well as improve the environment and ecology.

The bill was adopted by deputies in the first reading.
