Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 June, plogging was held in the Central Ecopark in Tashkent, timed to coincide with World Environment Day. The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change in partnership with Sanfa, Coca Cola and SQB.

Plogging is an ecological movement during which participants cover a certain distance and collect garbage at the same time.

The purpose of the event is to draw public attention to the problem of environmental pollution with plastic. From the collected plastic as part of plogging, Sanfa will produce a geomembrane for watering places for wild animals in Karakalpakstan. This material will help wild animals get access to clean water. The geomembrane will be installed in one of the reserves of Karakalpakstan by the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, celebrated on 17 June.

Sanfa is one of the largest manufacturers of products made of polymer materials in Uzbekistan, paying special attention to the reuse of plastic at all stages of production.

The plogging involved 110 people who ran and walked over 1,000 km during the day and collected a total of 300kg 513g of plastic waste. The participants who collected the most waste were awarded with cash certificates in the amount of 3,000,000, for 2nd place - 2,000,000, for 3rd place - 1,000,000 soums from the SQB partner.

List of winners:

1st place - Mukhlisa Yakubova - 40 kg 900 g; 34 km - 9 h 56 min.

2nd place - Sukhrob Ruzaliev - 22 kg 600; 12.02 - 2 h 31 min.

3rd place - Maksad Holmurodova - 18 kg 500 g; 13.59 - 5 h 09 min.

At the same time, the NEWTONE school won in the nomination "The Biggest Collection", the students of which collected 56 kg of plastic. All participants who collected plastic and handed it over to the collection point were given a cap, a shopper and a T-shirt.

It is worth noting that the joint activity of conducting such events is a small but important step towards a cleaner and healthier future for our planet.
