Modernization of drinking water system in Tashkent region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 August this year, the Uzsuvtaminot joint-stock company organized a press tour to water facilities in Tashkent region for media representatives and bloggers.

Within the framework of the first stage of the three-stage project "Modernization of the drinking water system in the Kibray, Tashkent and Zangiata districts of Tashkent region" with a total cost of US$143.4 million with the participation of the Asian Development Bank in Kibray district, the construction of water pipelines with a length of 424.3 km from the Kadyri water facility is being carried out (total capacity - 100 thousand m3 per day) to the water facility VU-3, as well as 18 water distribution facilities.

To date, work on laying central water pipelines has been completed by 17 percent. As a result of the planned work, meters will be installed in more than 49,256 households, over 265.0 thousand people will have access to drinking water supply.

Within the framework of this project, at the expense of US$454.4 million, it is planned to build a total of 960.0 km of drinking water supply networks and 352.5 sewerage networks. As a result, over 523 thousand people will have access to centralized drinking water supply, and 620 thousand people will be provided with sewerage services.
