Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The mobile operator Universal Mobile Systems (UMS) will be privatized. This is stated in the presidential resolution "On additional measures to further reduce state participation in the economy and accelerate privatization."

The head of Uzbekistan instructed, by 1 May 2022, to involve international consulting, audit and investment consultants, investment banks or other specialized companies in the process of assessing and selling of Universal Mobile Systems.

The document states that until 1 April 2023, measures will be taken to privatize the mobile operator.

UMS is a telecommunications company providing mobile communication services throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The founder of UMS is the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the company, the operator’s revenue amounted to 951.14 billion soums in 2020, and net profit - 31.71 billion soums.
