EnergoNews reported quoting Uzbekenergo state joint stock company, currently assembly of technologic equipment of combined-cycle plant is underway and it is planned to start balancing and commissioning works in the second half of 2012.
The construction of combined-cycle plant with the capacity of 478 megawatt is planned to complete in the end of 2012.
In August 2009, Uzbekenergo signed an agreement with the consortium of Calik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (Turkey) and Initec (Spain) to modernization of the station with the cost of US$468 million.
Within the contract, the consortium will construct combined-cycle plant with the capacity of 478 megawatt under “turnkey”. The consortium signed agreement with Mitsubishi in 2009.
The project will be financed due to the resources of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$351 million, own resources of Uzbekenergo – US$70.2 million and loans of the Uzbek banks – US$46.8 million.
Modernization of Navoi thermoelectric power station will provide electricity to Navoi free industrial and economic zone.
Navoi thermoelectric power station was built in 1963 for energy supply of Kyzylkum region. It is one of the largest power stations in Central Asia. Its capacity is equal to 1,250 megawatt.
