Mitsubishi Corp. to realize 3 CDM projects in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Japan’s Mitsubishi Corp. will implement projects for US$5 million at Navoiazot, Maxam-Chirchiq and Ferghanaazot of Uzbekistan within Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in 2009.
International auditors validated all project documents and now UN CDM Executive Board should register them.
Mitsubishi Corp. can start to realize these projects in March 2009. The projects will be realized within 6-8 months.
The Japanese firm will supply technologies and know-how for utilization of green house gases (nitrous oxide), which will allow to improve energy efficiency of these enterprises. The Japanese firm will attract funds to finance the projects and it will get certified emission reductions. The project will cut 1.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent per year.
Mitsubishi and Uzhimprom signed a memorandum of understanding on the realization of these three projects in 2006. These are the first CDM projects in Uzbekistan.
