Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 March 2009 UNDP project “Capacity Building for Clean Development Mechanism in Uzbekistan” in cooperation with German Energy Agency DENA conducts workshop for raising awareness of Uzbek specialists in the field of CDM project development.

The workshop is addressed to major companies in Oil & Gas, Energy and Municipal sectors and intends an exchange of experience on CDM project implementation between German experts and national project developers.

On March 18th the mission will continue by visiting 2 potential CDM project sites: small hydropower plant “Kamolot” and biogas installation on the base of “Milk Agro” farm for analysis of possible cooperation in the field of Energy including renewable energy sources.

The third mission day -19 March - will be dedicated to meetings in key ministries. The morning meeting is in SJC “Uzbekenergo”; the agenda will include discussion of a number of CDM projects on high voltage power transmission lines in different regions of the Republic, as well as horizon of removable energy sources utilization for electricity generation. The afternoon meeting at NHC “Uzbekneftegas” plans screening the existing CDM projects in Oil & Gas sector and discussion of the potential of German investors in their implementation.

Energy Agency DENA is the competence centre for energy efficiency and renewable energies. Its many objectives include the rational and thus environmentally friendly production, conversion and use of energy, and the development of sustainable energy systems with a greater emphasis on renewable energy sources.

Together with DENA the mission will be represented by FutureCamp GmbH company offering consulting services in emissions trading and climate strategy and innovation management.

The project hopes that attention and interest of the highly experienced German companies from the one hand, and efforts of the national CDM project developers from the other hand will result in fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at implementation of CDM projects.
