Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan has been instructed to purchase at least 1,200 more buses and put them on routes.

A video conference meeting is being held under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the tasks of further expanding the conditions for the production and export of finished products with high added value, as well as the development of services and tourism.

It was emphasized that half of transport services come from road transport. Although about 1,500 buses were imported this year, the growth did not exceed 5.5%.

The Ministry of Transport has been instructed to purchase at least 1,200 more buses and put them on routes. Bus service with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will also be doubled.

Competition also appeared in the air transportation market; 6 private companies began operating. Since the beginning of the year, 25 new aircraft have been delivered, 17 routes have been opened.

However, the volume of services in the sector increased by only 7.7%. The Ministry of Transport has been tasked with increasing air transportation volumes by 20% next year.

For this purpose, at least 2 flights connecting Tashkent with regional centers will be operated daily, and at least 1 flight per week connecting regional centers. At least 7 aircraft will be delivered and 3 more international routes will be opened.

Railway tariffs will also be revised and unnecessary benefits will be cancelled. Uzbekistan will acquire 6 high-speed trains and 30 long-distance electric trains.

It was emphasized that next year it is necessary to ensure at least 20 percent growth in this area.
