Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has confirmed that, as of today, no charging stations in Tashkent have been disconnected from the power grid.
Additionally, the ministry outlined plans for upgrading and reconstructing power grids, aimed at improving service quality for electric vehicle (EV) owners in the future.
In December 2024, inspections were conducted, revealing several charging stations that failed to meet established standards. The ministry noted that specialists promptly addressed issues at 11 stations.
“There are currently no charging stations in Tashkent that have been disconnected from the grid,” the ministry emphasized.
The Ministry of Energy highlighted that out of approximately 1,000 charging stations across the country, only 103 fully comply with the required technical standards. It warned that improperly registered stations could lead to power supply disruptions and reduced charging quality for EVs.
In response, the ministry underscored the importance of ensuring that all stations comply with the established regulations.
To support entrepreneurs involved in the installation and operation of charging stations, the ministry is developing a draft resolution that proposes tariff incentives.
According to the draft, EV charging tariffs will vary depending on the time of day:
During peak hours (6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 5:15 PM to 10:15 PM), slightly higher tariffs will be applied.
During off-peak nighttime hours (10:15 PM to 6:00 AM), tariffs will be reduced by up to 52%.
This initiative is expected to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of EV charging infrastructure while promoting sustainable energy use in Uzbekistan.
