Ministry of Energy denies rumors about reduction in electricity tariffs for households

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has refuted rumors circulating on social media about a reduction in electricity tariffs for household consumers exceeding the social limit of 200 kilowatt-hours.

Previously, it was reported that citizens exceeding the social norm would pay 540 soums per kilowatt-hour, down from the current 900 soums. However, the ministry clarified that this information was a distortion of the facts.

The department explained that the government decree of 27 December 2024, applies exclusively to businesses, for which new payment conditions have been introduced. Now, enterprises exceeding the established consumption limit will pay an additional 20% of the base tariff instead of the previous double tariff.

“The changes adopted do not affect household consumers,” emphasized the ministry.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Energy urged bloggers and media outlets to exercise social responsibility, recommending refraining from spreading misleading information for attention.
