Ministry of Energy: Conference on low-carbon development starts

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, the International Scientific and Technical Conference "New horizons of low-carbon development in the world and in Uzbekistan" began its work at the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy.

 It was organized by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources. 

At the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Sherzod Khodjaev, Director of the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy under the Ministry of Energy Aziz Alimukhamedov, Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic Sirojiddin Mirzaev, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament of the country Aktam Khaitov addressed the participants with welcoming words.

At the plenary session, presentations on low-carbon development issues were made by members of the leadership of the UNDP and EBRD offices in Uzbekistan, specialized research institutes.

The program of the international conference also included presentations by investors and leading companies in the world, the exchange of global and regional experience in the field of renewable energy. In particular, a representative of the Institute of Nanotechnology of the University of Texas (USA) and others will share such experience in the application of nanotechnologies for the production of solar collectors of a new generation.

In the course of two days, experts from a number of universities and research institutes introduced modern approaches to achieving low-carbon development goals, including the Institute of Materials Science, the Institute of Physics and Technology and the Institute of Energy Problems of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State University, the Joint Institute for High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Energy Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, University of Western Attica (Greece) and others.

The international scientific and technical conference brought together world experience in low-carbon development and innovative ideas in this area, made it possible to create a community of scientific thought and practical achievements, which will allow planning and implementing new projects in the country to green the economy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other areas, united by the concept of low-carbon development.
