Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 January 2024, the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliev made a working visit to Tashkent.

During the visit, negotiations were held with the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov. This was reported by the press service of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan.

A wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed. In particular, the supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan, taking into account seasonality, where specific agreements were reached.

Important attention was paid to monitoring the progress of the implementation of the Roadmap for the implementation of the instructions of the Presidents of the two countries, given following the visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Uzbekistan in December 2022, including increasing trade turnover to US$10 billion.

During the negotiations, issues of transit and transport policy, modernization of the infrastructure of border checkpoints, cross-border and regional cooperation, as well as preparation for the IV Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were touched upon. As a result, a protocol was signed that formalizes all agreements, deadlines and measures for their implementation.

The Kazakh delegation also got acquainted with the activities of the city’s Technological Park, where they discussed with the Uzbek side the prospects for expanding Uzbek-Kazakh industrial cooperation and ties between the business circles of the two countries. It should be noted that the Technopark unites more than 20 high-tech, competitive, export-oriented enterprises.
