Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea on 16-18 December, special attention was paid to the promotion of programs and projects within the framework of practical cooperation in the field of digitalization, innovation and high technologies.

In this regard, during the visit of the delegation of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications to Seoul (Republic of Korea), a meeting was held between the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov and the management of the Global Optical Communication Co., Ltd. 

During the meeting, issues of expanding bilateral cooperation within the framework of the project for the production of fiber optic products and promising areas were discussed.

On 2 February, Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov, during a working visit to te Jizzakh region, got acquainted with the activities of the Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan joint venture, located in the Jizzakh free economic zone and specializing in the production of fiber optic cable products.

The new production enterprise "GOC-UZ" not only solves the issues of providing the telecommunications infrastructure of Uzbekistan with products that were previously purchased for foreign currency, but also provides jobs for more than a hundred people, including graduates of professional colleges in the city of Jizzakh.

The joint venture "Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan", specializing in the production of fiber-optic communication cables, was established in October 2019 by JSC "O'zbektelekom" together with the South Korean companies "Global Optical Communication Co. Ltd." and Uni Asset Global Co. Ltd."

At the first stage in 2020, the building of the Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan JV in the Jizzakh free economic zone is equipped with modern equipment from Korean, Japanese and Chinese companies with the production of finished products.

Currently, a project is being implemented in two stages to organize the production of fiber optic cables by Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan LLC:

as part of the contribution to the enterprise by JSC "O'zbektelekom", equipment was delivered and installed to the enterprise "Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan" LLC on 1.6 hectares of area and production facilities. The production capacity of the equipment allows the production of up to 20 thousand kilometers of fiber optic cables as import-substituting products. Production is established, products are delivered to consumers.

in accordance with the decision of the Administrative Council of Free Economic Zones and Small Industrial Zones from 25 January 2020, an additional area of 4.5 hectares was allocated in the territory of the Jizzakh FEZ in accordance with the established procedure. An industrial complex with a capacity of 30,000 kilometers of fiber-column cables as an import-substituting product was erected and put into operation there.

Currently, Global Optical Communication Uzbekistan LLC produces up to 50 thousand kilometers of fiber optic cables per year.

Minister discussed with the specialists of the enterprise the issues of expanding production, improving the quality of products, their introduction to domestic and foreign markets. At the same time, he held a conversation with young workers, got acquainted with their working conditions.
