Minister of Energy: Temporary ban on gasoline exports from Russia affected the fuel situation in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, during government hour in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, said that the temporary ban on the export of gasoline from Russia affected the situation with fuel in Uzbekistan.

He noted that although it cannot be said that there is a shortage, measures are being taken to increase domestic production and import additional volumes of gasoline.

He also clarified that the temporary restriction on gasoline exports from Russia, introduced by the Russian government, influenced the situation.

However, after an intergovernmental agreement reached in October during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Moscow, supplies of imported gasoline from Russian companies began.

The minister noted that according to the intergovernmental agreement, as an exception, Uzbekistan was given the opportunity to import gasoline, regardless of the presence or absence of restrictions.

In January-October 2023, according to the Statistics Agency, Uzbekistan produced 1.106 million tons of motor gasoline (an increase of 9.7% compared to the corresponding period in 2022).
