Minister of Digital Technologies holds a meeting with the head of the Lesta Games

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 March 2024, the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, and the CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, Farhod Ibragimov, engaged in discussions regarding the prospects of collaboration in the development of the gaming industry in Uzbekistan with the Head of the Lesta Games group of companies, Malik Khatajaev.

Lesta Games is an international group of companies specializing in the development and publishing of video games. Within the portfolio of the group are globally renowned projects, including “World of Tanks”, “World of Warships” and “Tanks Blitz”.

In Uzbekistan, the interests of the group of companies are represented by the resident of IT Park East Games — one of the major exporters of IT services and products to the United States and Europe, employing more than 60 specialists.

At the meeting, considerable achievements in the progression of the gaming sector in Uzbekistan were underscored. By the end of 2023, IT Park residents had exported gaming products totaling $49 million, representing a substantial surge of 3.7 times compared to the figures of 2022. 

The meeting participants also deliberated on incentives and support programs tailored for IT and outsourcing companies, as well as underscored the countryʼs human resources potential and other advantages that render Uzbekistan an attractive destination for fostering global business in the realm of IT.

Furthermore, the meeting attendees visited the Single integrator for the creation and support of state information systems “UZINFOCOM”, which facilitates accessibility to over 1000 governmental and state resources and administers the .UZ domain zone.

In turn, representatives of Lesta Games shared their proposals and vision for attracting foreign enterprises to Uzbekistan, enhancing the qualifications of specialists, and further development of IT service exports.

This meeting represents a significant milestone in the advancement of Uzbekistanʼs gaming industry. Collaboration with Lesta Games and other global leaders in this domain not only fosters economic growth but also facilitates the creation of new employment opportunities, the cultivation of professional skills, and the bolstering of the nationʼs reputation on the international stage within the game development sphere.
