Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 June, at the Raddison Blu Hotel, the Ministry of mining industry and geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the World Bank, an international conference was organized on the theme “Mining and metals industry development”.

The event was attended by representatives of leading international and local enterprises in the field of mining and geology, prestigious international financial institutions and banks, potential investors, independent experts and other interested parties.

The main purpose of the conference is to present the prospects and directions for the development of the mining industry of the republic, ongoing reforms in the industry, potential investment opportunities, as well as create an opportunity to establish relationships with international industrial partners and other interested parties.

The conference began with a brief speech by the First Deputy Minister of Mining industry and Geology Omonulla Nasritdinkhodjaev, who spoke about the reforms carried out in the mining and metallurgical industry of Uzbekistan and their results. After that, Acting Country Manager of the World Bank, Rakhymzhan Asangaziyev, recognized the achievements of Uzbekistan in this area as an opening speech and expressed the readiness of the World Bank to cooperate.

Within the framework of the conference, 4 panel sessions were held and discussions were held on such topics as “Expanding geological exploration”, “New legal framework for mining: what changes?”, “The future of the mining in Uzbekistan: what do industry champions think?”, “Building the mining value chain for green economy transition".    The conference was attended by representatives of the leading enterprises of the mining industry of Uzbekistan, independent experts from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, international consulting companies and well-known experts in this field with lectures and presentations.

Also, exhibition stands were organized at the event to demonstrate the achievements and promising projects of the leading mining companies of Uzbekistan, such as “Navoi MMC”, “Almalyk MMC”, “Navoiyuran” and “Uzmetkombinat”.

At the end of the conference, the participants received answers to their questions on the above topics and expressed their opinion on the large-scale work carried out in the region and promising goals.
