Microcreditbank issues loans for 288.6bn soums to small businesses
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Microcreditbank open joint stock commercial bank issued loans for 288.6 billion soums to small businesses in 2011, of which 159.7 billion soums were preferential loans.

The volume of microfinancing services, rendered small businesses and private entrepreneurship, grew by 1.3 times year-on-year. This allowed to create 104,500 new jobs.

The volume of microloans, issued as starting capital to businesses, grew by 1.6 times year-on-year in 2011 and reached 22.8 billion soums.

In 2011, the bank allocated loans for 27.5 billion soums to support 4,961 young families. The volume of soft loans, issued to young people to run their businesses, made up 15.7 billion soums. This helped to create 7,804 jobs.

Microcreditbank started its activity on the initiative and decree of the decree of President from 5 May 2006 and since that it has issued microloans for 503.2 billion sousm.

The bank’s activity on supporting small businesses was significantly expanded after Microcreditbank raised its charter capital by 72 billion soums to 150 billion soums. The bank also decreased interest rates for financial services to businesses. In particular, the interest rate on microloans, issued as starting capital, was decreased from 5% to 3% APR and microleasing services – from 7% to 5%.
