MICA hosts meeting with the leadership of the Polish Center for International Relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (MICA) Javlon Vakhabov met with the President of the Center for International Relations (Centrum Stosunków Międzynarodowych – CSM) Małgorzata Bonikowska and member of the CSM Board Michał Smagowicz.

During the conversation, Małgorzata Bonikowska highly appreciated the current high level of development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Poland. She stated that the launch of direct flights between Tashkent and Warsaw was the result of intensified bilateral relations and contributes to the development of trade and economic ties and an increase in tourist exchanges.

Polish experts emphasized that “New Uzbekistan” opens up new prospects for society. As noted at the meeting, today’s Uzbekistan is a country of democratic transformations and great opportunities. This is the most important result of the ongoing reforms.

According to them, the sustainable development of Uzbekistan largely depends on how correctly regional policy is structured. After the election of Shavkat Mirziyoyev as President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a qualitative improvement in Tashkent’s relations with neighboring states began, and the authority of Central Asia as a unified and strong region increased.

IICA and CSM representatives also discussed further strengthening interregional cooperation in the “Central Asia + European Union” format. In this regard, the parties expressed their readiness to hold several events in this format, where issues of an interregional nature and intensified cooperation between analytical centers will be discussed.
