Metito Utilities expands water resource projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — UAE-based company Metito Utilities is implementing new projects in Uzbekistan aimed at sustainable water resource management, CEO Rami Ghandour stated in an interview with Trend.

The foundation for these initiatives was laid by the first public-private partnership (PPP) project in the water sector within the CIS—the construction of wastewater treatment facilities in Namangan, a tender Metito won in 2021.

The project includes the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of a facility with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day, along with the installation of 7.5 km of sewer networks.

With an estimated cost of $90 million, the project has a 25-year implementation period, with the first two years allocated for construction (as per 2021 data).

“This strategically significant project sets a benchmark for the water treatment sector in the CIS, shaping best practices for sustainable water resource management. We see it as a catalyst for further development, driving innovation and sustainable growth in the region,” Ghandour emphasized.

According to him, Metito is currently finalizing financial agreements with its partners, after which construction will commence.

Additionally, the company is implementing a project to modernize pumping stations in Namangan region. The scope of this initiative was expanded following an amendment signed on 13 January 2025, in Abu Dhabi during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to the UAE.

Metito reaffirms its commitment to sustainability principles and views Uzbekistan as a key market for introducing innovative water infrastructure solutions.
