Methods of effective water resources management were discussed with World Bank specialists

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adiz Boboev and World Bank (WB) representatives.

The meeting was also attended by the head of the World Bank’s water resources management projects Azad Abdulhamid, Senior Economist of the World Bank Eskender Trushin, Deputy Director of the Department of Formation and Analysis of the program for the development of Socio-industrial Infrastructure Jamol Tukhtaev, head of the division of cooperation with the World Bank Group Behzod Hamroev.

The main topics of discussion were current projects in the field of water supply, including the introduction of advanced technologies for water conservation, effective management of water resources, and methods for measuring water consumption.

It was noted that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan pays special attention to implementing urgent measures for the development and reform of the industry. In particular, on January 5, 2024, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to improve the water resources management system in the lower level and increase the efficiency of water resources use” was adopted. The proposals of the bank’s representatives on further effective continuation of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in this area were heard.

The parties also considered the existing problems in Uzbekistan in this sphere, the management system, systemic approaches to overcoming problems, international experience in this field, in particular, the experience of Turkey, the People’s Republic of China, India, Pakistan, Iran and Egypt.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to discuss the above issues in detail.
