The 54-year-old was assistant to Brazilian Zico last year when the team clinched Uzbekistan League and Cup titles and also made it to the last four stage of the continental championship.

The Ukrainian is also assistant to coach Mirdjalal Kasimov in the Uzbekistan national team and will continue to hold this position.

Bunyodkor had training camps in the UAE and Spain under Memet’s guidance recently. They held Bulgarian club Litex goalless and defeated Ukraine’s Metallist 1-0 and Slavia Prague 2-1 during their camp in the UAE.

They have been drawn in Group D of the 2009 AFC Champions League along with UAE’s Al Shabab, Iran’s Sepahan and Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ettifaq.
