Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev, began observing the preparations and conduct of the extraordinary elections to the Milli Majlis. This was reported by the press service of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan.

Today, in Baku, a meeting took place between Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev, Chairman of the CEC of Uzbekistan, and Mazahir Panakhov, Chairman of the CEC of Azerbaijan.

Chairman Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev thanked for the invitation to participate in this significant socio-political event in Azerbaijan’s life.

He highlighted the positive dynamics in bilateral relations over recent years, which demonstrate a completely new level of Uzbek-Azerbaijani interaction at almost all levels, with the electoral sphere being no exception.

"There is fruitful cooperation between the electoral bodies of our two countries. We are constantly exchanging experiences, information, and best practices to further improve the electoral process. One effective form of cooperation is the mutual invitation of observers to participate in monitoring national electoral campaigns," said Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev.

In turn, Chairman M. Panakhov welcomed the participation of the Uzbek delegation in the international observation program for the extraordinary parliamentary elections and expressed confidence that it would contribute to holding free and democratic elections in Azerbaijan.

According to him, the elections will be as transparent as possible, including through the installation of web cameras at a thousand polling stations, allowing anyone to observe all processes at the polling site. The broadcasts will be available on the CEC website without registration, not only for those in Azerbaijan but also for citizens abroad.

Additionally, 604 international observers from 50 organizations across 69 countries will be involved in monitoring the electoral process, including 227 from the OSCE/ODIHR, 61 from the OSCE PA, 16 from the Turk PA, 34 from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and 93 from the CIS. The election monitoring will also include 111,200 local observers and media representatives.
