The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Uzbektourism national company organized the event, UzA reported.

The Secretary-General of UNWTO Taleb Rifai said that Uzbekistan has great tourism potential and country pays great attention to development of the sector.

He praised work carried out in Uzbekistan to study and develop rich spiritual and cultural heritage, restoration and preservation of ancient monuments and architecture complex. Uzbekistan strengthens international cooperation to develop tourism infrastructure, he added.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues on promotion of Great Silk Road in the world tourism market, role of tourism in development of economy and regional cooperation, strengthening relations between tourism organizations, etc.

The sides exchanged opinion on issues related development of tourism at Great Silk Road, improvement of organization activity, attraction of investments, strengthening international cooperation.
