Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Changes have occurred in the leadership of the State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan.

Lieutenant General Abdusalom Azizov, who had held the position of SSS chairman since February 2019, has been relieved of his duties, according to several Uzbek media outlets, including Gazeta.uz and Kun.uz.

Before his appointment to this position, Azizov headed the Ministry of Defense from September 2017.

Bahodir Kurbanov has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Security Service.

Prior to this appointment, he served as the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan since 11 February 2019.
